Introduction


The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) is a consortium of North American universities, colleges and independent research libraries.  As stated on their homepage, their mission is to support advanced research and teaching in the humanities, sciences and social sciences by ensuring the survival and availability of the knowledge resources vital to these disciplines.

CRL makes available more than four million publications, archives and collections to its member libraries to supplement their own humanities, social science and science holdings. Center materials can be obtained for extended loan periods and at no cost by users affiliated with member libraries.

Obtaining Items from CRL


Requests for CRL materials should be made through Interlibrary Loan.

Selecting “Collections” from the top menu leads to links for a wide range of information and assistance, including:
Collection Highlights – an overview of their unique holdings
Digital Resources – links to selected materials available online
Explore by Topic – leads to “topic guides” that explain their collections in great detail
FOCUS  Newsletter – each issue highlights a specific area of their collection
Area Studies Project – search for information by region or area of interest
