Government Information Services (GIS) combines the largest collection of U.S. government publications in Mississippi with a comprehensive collection of State of Mississippi government documents. We serve both the University community and citizens of the state of Mississippi with government information needs. As a regional federal depository (one of fifty-three in the nation), we receive and retain all publications distributed in the Federal Depository Library Program. We hold over two million items in a variety of print, microform, and electronic formats, including a large federal map collection.
Services:
- Personalized reference service. We work with patrons both on campus and across the state, and serve as a link to state agencies for information not readily available in the collection.
- Online access to U. S. government titles published since 1976 and state of Mississippi publications. For earlier items, extensive finding tools are available.
- Assistance in using government information sources available both in the library and on the Internet.
- Instruction for groups and individuals in the use of government information sources.
