The CFTC in an independent agency that refulates commodity futures ad option markets; has links to domestic exhcanges, market analysis, market sureillance, and market research.

CRSP U.S. Stock Database (CD-ROM terminal located in the
Business School)

Contains various data on US securities from NYSE, AMEX, and NASDAQ. Both monthly and daily data are included for each index.

Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe
Investment reports and other company information, including Hoover reposrts, can be found under Business.

Mergent Online (formerly Moody's Manuals, FIS Online)
Mergent provides information on 35,000 U.S. and non-U.S. corporate entities, including EDGAR® filings dating back to 1993. Also includes 15 years of financial statements, history, stock prices, customized reports and more. Access to Mergent is limited to five users. If you cannot access the database try at a later time. Always log off Mergent Online when you are finished.

Net Advantage (Standard & Poor's)
Contains information on publicly-traded companies including company profiles, stock, bond, and other investment information and analysis. Includes full-text versions of S&P's Industry Surveys dating back to 1996.

Research Insight (Research Insight Web)
Formerly known as Compustat. In depth financial (current and historical) company information. You must download an Excel add-in to use this resource. The above link contains instructions.

ValueLine Research Center Online

Stock prices and investment information. Provides one-page snapshot of investment information of 1,700 companies. Includes recent developments, statistics, and industry forecasts. Updated quarterly. International Federation of Stock Exchanges
Formerly FIBV, the International Federation of Stock Exchanges, is the trade organization for regulated securities and derivative markets.

New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
Delayed quotes and company information. Also has informaiton about the exhange, trading floor education, international company and market information, and regulatory information.

NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations)
Market news, delayed quotes from NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, and OTC Bulletin Board, training, global training, brief investor analysis, instutional holding information, and more.

AMEX (American Stock Exchange)
Delayed quotes (from AMEX, NYSE, and NASDAQ), news, options, ETFs (exchange traded fund), and more.

Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT)
Delayed quotes, market data, and other information.

Chicago Board of Exchange (CBOE)
Options market information, quotes, trading tools, educational tools, learning center.

Regional Stock Exchanges
Regional stock exchanges were formed to help local corporations; many companies. Many smaller companies are traded on regioanl exhanges while some larger ones are listed on both a national exchange and regional exchanges. These stocks are "dually traded." There are five active regional exchanges:

Mutual fund information. Basic information is available on the Morningstar Web site www.morningstar.com. Registration is required but it is free.

Brill's Mutual Fund Interactive
Web site includes mutual fund news, expert's corner, fund links, mutual fund investing education, manager profiles, research center.

Mutual Fund Education Alliance
Includes fund sector education, investment strategies, fund news.

Investment Company Institute
Mutual fund industry facts and reports.

Ratios

Financial Ratios Calculator
Financial ratios caluculator from the University of Washington's Foster Business Library. Plug in various financials and the calculator will figure the ratios. Included is sample data for Nike. Company financials can be found from numerous sources including Net Advantage, Mergent Online, and Lexis Nexis Academic.

Almanac of Business and Industrial Financial Ratios
[Reference] HF5681 .R25 T68 Catalog Record
Provides financial ratios for 192 NAICS codes. Calculated from corporate IRS returns, tables are presented for corporations with net income and for corporations with and without net income. Trends for the previous ten years are also included. Because of the three-year lag time from when information if gathered and when it is issued by the IRS, data can be dated.

Industry Norms and Key Business Ratios
[Reference] HF5681 .R25 Catalog Record
Provides "norms" and ratios for more than eight hundred SIC codes. Included are assets and liabilities in dollars and as percentages. Ratios are provided for the upper quartile, median, and lower quartile.

RMA Annual Statement Studies

Has current and historical data for 375 industries according to their NAICS code. Separate indexes listing the NAICS and SIC codes covered are in the front of the book. Assets, liabilities, income, and a variety of ratios are included.

Standard & Poor's Industry Surveys/NetAdvantage (online)

A quarterly survey of industry trends, with composite and company data, including ratios for industries. Industry Surveys dating back to 1996 are available online through S&Ps Net Advantage.
