When you are trying to connect to a database from off-campus, our proxy server will ask you to authenticate by using your name and barcode number. The barcode number is the 14 digit number that is located on the lower right corner of your University ID card. There is a "help page" available to further explain the barcode.
2. What do I do if I am not able to connect to electronic resources from home?If you have never used your library account, you may want to check whether your name and barcode number is registered with our library system. (Keep in mind that access to electronic resources is only granted to university students and employees.) Test your account by logging into "My Library Account" available in the library catalog. When you enter your name and barcode number, the system should let you access your account. If you get an error message, call the circulation desk at 662-915-5858. If you are able to login to your account, then call the reference desk at 662-915-5855.
If you are able to access your account but are having trouble accessing an electronic resource, there may be several reasons: the database server might be down temporarily or the database vendor might have network problems. Try several databases to see if other databases are working. Please report the details of the issues to the reference desk at 662-915-5855 or the "Ask a Librarian"e-mail service.
3. I am off campus and trying to access a journal.
