Banned Books Week
Between September 27th and October 4th, the University of Mississippi Libraries, the Oxford Public Library and local businesses will be celebrating and promoting Banned Books Week. "Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read" is an annual event that the American Library Association (ALA) has observed since 1982 and "reminds Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted."
This online resource offers information about related events, an explanation as to why books are banned and a list of the 100 most commonly challenged books. This list will also provide the call numbers of any challenged books that we have in our collection.
