Dr. Michael Johansson has recently been appointed interim director of the Office of International Programs and has brought many fresh new ideas to this office. One of these was an event called WorldFest 2000, which showcased several international games and musical performances.

International students proudly display their national flags and costumes as part of WorldFest 2000.

On the heels of winning the national award, Graduate Student Council President Carl Rebman has been invited to participate in a conference at the University of Washington on "re-inventing the doctoral degree." He also has been honored recently with the SouthCentral Leadership Award from the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students.

Heading the graduate procession at the May 13, 2000, commencement will be Monique "A" and Nichole "B" Robertson, who are identical twins receiving their Ph.D.s in Education Leadership. Both "A" and "B" are graduating with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Originally from Maine, they previously earned their M.A. degrees in secondary education at The University of Mississippi as part of the Mississippi Teacher Corps program. Monique currently teaches at Lafayette High School and Nichole teaches at Byhalia High School.
