    Below is a list of links and important information you will need to begin your studies here at Ole Miss. We

Let's Begin with a Campus Tour !

1.  Make sure your records are complete!

       

The following items have to be submitted to the Graduate School and The University of Mississippi in order to complete your admission.

  • Official Transcripts*
  • Official Test Scores*

        

   *To see if your official transcripts and test scores are on file, Click Here!

  • Health/ Shot Records must be submitted to the University Health Center .
  • If you are an international student please make sure all paper work for international study is on file at the Office of International Programs located at 331 Martindale Student Services Building. All new international students must check in with the Office of International Programs, and attend their mandatory orientation before you can register for courses. 2. Activate your WebID

http://my.olemiss.edu

You will use your WebID to complete other steps, so make this your first stop. You will need your student number (included in your acceptance packet) and your birth date. Make sure to remember your WebID and password!

 

3. Apply for Financial Aid:

Check with your Program to see if there are any assistantships or fellowships available s. If you can not find a fellowship or an assistantship with your department; Federal Student Loans are available for domestic students. For Federal loans visit http://www.olemiss.edu/depts/financial_aid .

4. Speak with your Advisor and Register for Classes

For some graduate programs the courses you will take during your first semester may already be determined or may be decided by communicating with your program advisor. For other programs, the program advisor and faculty will want you to be on campus before selecting courses. If you contact your program advisor and are given a set of courses to take, you may register online. Click here to Register Online.

 

5. Register your Vehicle with University Police Department

You will need to purchase a car decal in order to park on campus. You will need your web id and vehicle identification (VIN), your liscense plate letters, and numbers. Go to UPD Parking Services.

6. Get Your UM Identification Card

You will need to go to the ID Center here on campus, located in the 102 Paul B. Johnson Commons. Office hours are 8:15 am- 4:45 pm, Monday- Friday. To have a photo taken for your UM ID Card visit the ID Center .

 

7. Overview of Graduate School Services and Contact Information

The Graduate School offers a number of services to our students. If you have questions or concerns we are here to assist you. Please view our overview of services and contact information Student Services and Information .

 

8. Student Services Workshops

The University of Mississippi Graduate School and the Writing Center have united to offer Student Services workshops that address a variety of topics inclunding: Ethics, Writing Skills, Teaching Skills,etc.

9. The Writing Center

The Writing Center will provide advice about writing papers, theses, dissertations, resumes, etc., for Graduate Students. The Writing Center is located in Suite 310 of the J. D. Williams Library. Graduate Students are encouraged to use this free service. To schedule an appointment please contact Writing Center Director, Brenda Robertson at 662-915-7686 or writingc@olemiss.edu.

 

The Graduate School offers several student support organizations. We encourage you to get involoved in a student organization today!

 

10. Graduate Student Council

The Graduate Student Council (GSC) is committed to retaining high academic standards, to promoting democratic principles, to fostering close cooperation between students and faculty, to facilitating graduate interdepartmental communication, to encouraging worthy projects in the interests of the graduate student body, and to serving the general welfare of our institution.  Become active in your GSC today!

 

11.  Black Graduate and Professional Student Association

For over 15 years, the BGPSA is committed to encouraging and supporting a system of academic and professional networking for graduate students. This is truly an exciting time to be a minority graduate student at the University of Mississippi. In recent years, the University of Mississippi has been among top 50 insititutions granting doctorates to African-Americans.

Join our organization and experience the cohesiveness and academic success of the African and African-American students at the University of Mississippi. Become a member today! For membership information, please contact Jonathan Hutchins, President.

 

12. Graduate Women's Group

 

This newly-formed and student- led, developing group exists as a support and discussion hub for graduate women. The group is self-led and focuses on supporting graduate women socially, academically, and personally. The group discusses gender issues, balancing academics and family, isolation in male-dominated departments, communication styles, racial and cultural issues.
