Vision

To improve the health status of the citizens of Lafayette County, the City of Oxford, University of Mississippi and State of Mississippi.

Mission

The mission of the Center for Health Behavior Research is to conduct innovative research in health behavior and provide lifestyle programs for the Lafayette, Oxford, University communities and the State.
The Goals of the Center for Health Behavior Research at The University of Mississippi:

  1. To determine the most pressing research needs regarding health behavior and submit proposals to agencies and foundations to conduct health behavior research. The research will be conducted under the leadership of the Center for Health Behavior Research.
  2. To identify and further develop scholarship that fosters community based health behavior practice within new practice constructs and to conduct practice focused research with the objective of validating community based practice. The Center will disseminate findings through consultations, curriculum materials, monographs, presentations, and manuscripts.
  3. To provide an environment that fosters faculty, staff and student advancement in developing health behavior theory through research and practice.
