Thank you for your interest in supporting the 2nd Annual Harvey Faust Golf Tournament: benefiting students pursuing degrees in Park & Recreation Management. This year’s tournament will be a four-man scramble held Saturday, April 27th at the Ole Miss Golf Course with an 8:30am “shotgun start.” Support and proceeds of this tournament goes toward the Harvey Faust Professional Development Award that supports the professional development of deserving Park & Recreation Management students. April 27th is an eventful day for the City of Oxford and Ole Miss. In addition to the Harvey Faust Golf Tournament, there will also be the 18th Annual Double Decker Arts Festival on the Oxford Square and the Ole Miss Rebel baseball team will play host to the Kentucky Wildcats at Swayze Field that afternoon. We invite you to stay following the Harvey Faust Golf Tournament to enjoy these local festivities.
Harvey Faust graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and a Master’s of Arts in Recreation Administration. He also worked as the Director of Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Affairs in Biloxi, Mississippi prior to accepting a position with the Germantown, Tennessee Parks and Recreation Department. Through his leadership, Germantown Park & Recreation became an innovative department and was one of the first to become accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). In 2000, the National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) Board of Trustees chose Mr. Faust as the National Distinguished Professional Award winner..
Mr. Faust is a shining example of dedication and service to the recreation industry both here in Mississippi and the rest of the nation. Through the years Mr. Faust has remained an ardent supporter of student professional development.
