Graduate students are eligible for assistantships that require part-time teaching or laboratory assistance. Stipends for graduate assistants vary depending on the academic department, the graduate level of the student and the service to be rendered. Academic excellence, maturity, and teaching or research experience are the main qualifications considered in the appointment of assistants. Full-time graduate assistantships carry a stipend and a scholarship. Applicants can obtain additional information about graduate assistantships from the chair of the department in which they would like to work.
