Campus Recreation - A division of Student Life
The Department of Campus Recreation, is one of 13 departments
within the Division of Student Life. The central purpose of the
Division of Student Life is facilitating student development and
offering educational programs and services that stimulate the
learning process. As a partner in the educational mission of the
university, student life professionals promote an environment
conducive to growth and discovery. The Division of Student Life
supports and compliments the academic program through it's commitment
to the total development of students by contributing to their
physical, occupational, social/environmental, intellectual, spiritual,
and emotional growth.
The mission of the Department of Campus Recreation is to provide
positive recreational opportunities that promote fun, social interaction,
student leadership, competition,
instruction, health and fitness which enhances the learning experience
of the Ole Miss community.
The Department of
Campus Recreation is an institutional member of The National
Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) . The NIRSA
membership is made up of recreational professionals and students
from public schools, colleges and universities, and military bases.
The NIRSA's mission is to provide for the education and development
of professional and student members and to foster quality recreational
programs, facilities and services for diverse populations. The
NIRSA demonstrates its commitment to excellence by utilizing resources
which promote ethical and healthy lifestyle choices.
