2002 Lafayette – Oxford – University Summer Sunset Series
    

Sunday, June 2 marks the beginning of the 2002 L-O-U Summer Sunset Series with the Summer Sunset Kickoff Jazz Concert, starring the Ole Miss Jazz Alumni Big Band. The 2002 L-O-U Summer Sunset Series consists of a variety of outdoor entertainment especially for the Lafayette-Oxford-University Community.

The series is sponsored by the Oxford Tourism Council, the Lafayette-Oxford Chamber of Commerce, the University of Mississippi, Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, and Square Books.
All events will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Grove on the Ole Miss Campus. In case of rain, event will take place in Fulton Chapel. Call the Oxford Tourism Council at 1-800-758-9177 for more details.

Institutional TOEFL Examination

Deadline for sign-up is June 26

 

The Institutional TOEFL Examination for summer will be held Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. in Bishop Hall Room 101. Sign-up will be through June 26.

  To sign up, go to the Yerby Conference Center and ask for Jonnie Fitch. You must have your University ID with you to sign up. The fee for the TOEFL Exam is $20, payable at the time you register to take the exam.

  Once you have registered for the TOEFL, you will be contacted when the Examinee Handbook arrives. You must pick up the Examinee Handbook before July 27. On the day of test, you must bring to the test location your University ID and admission form, which will be in the Examinee Handbook.
  Don't forget, the deadline for registration for the TOEFL is June 26.

Fall Orientation
    

There are several key dates to keep in mind for Fall Orientation for International Students.


A van shuttle from the Memphis International Airport to Oxford will be available on Monday, August 12, and Tuesday, August 13. The Airport Shuttle is provided by the Office of International Programs and will cost $30 per person. Please keep in mind that on-campus housing will not open until Tuesday, August 13; hotel rooms in Oxford will be available for anyone arriving on Monday.

 

Fall Orientation will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14. All new students and scholars are expected to attend. A wealth of information will be provided about Class Registration, Health Insurance, Employment, and Visa Status. New students and scholars will also have an opportunity to meet with the International Programs Staff as well as staff from the Student Health Center, the Counseling Center, and the University Police Department. Fall Orientation will end with the University English Placement Exam.

  Registration for classes will be on Thursday, August 15, and Friday, August 16. Classes will begin on Monday, August 19.
