The Office of International Programs held a farewell reception to honor Dr. Joyce Hertko on Friday, September 17th from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
Many International Students and Scholars came to wish her all the best. Several students came with their cameras to have their picture taken with her.
The Staff at the Office of International Programs wish Joyce all the best in her new position at the University of Indiana.
Michael Johansson, formerly Coordinator of International Admissions and Recruitment, has been appointed Acting Director of the Office of International Programs.
Jean Robinson, former International Services Assistant, has been appointed Acting Assistant Director of the Office of International Programs.
International Students and Scholars,
Jean and I are honored to be serving international
students and scholars in our new administrative roles. We accept
our added responsibilities knowing we have the full suppport of OIP staff,
international students and
scholars, and University administration.

All new international students who were not able
to attend any one of the six mandatory orientation sessions must come to
the Office of International Programs to watch the video-tape of the
session(s). Please allow at
least 30 minutes to watch each video. We
recommend that you watch no more than two videos in one sitting.
The Social Security Administration is in Oxford on the following Thursdays in 1999 from 9:00a.m. until 11:00a.m.:
You need to bring a complete application form, your I-20 or IAP-66, and your passport. Application forms are available in the office.
A lot of your social security problems can be solved over the phone. You can call the Tupelo office at 662 842 6582 or fax them at 662 841 2895.

Friendship International House (FIH) is a hospitality program and Southern Baptist Christian ministry to international students during the Christmas holidays. International students throughout the United States are invited to attend. To apply, you must be a non-American graduate or undergraduate student enrolled in a U.S. college or university. You may be single or married, and have children. This program is open to people of all races and religions. All participants must be at least 18 years of age, except for children of students who apply.
Dates and Locations
The official dates are December 18, 1999 to January 1, 2000, unless
indicated otherwise by the local FIH location.
Memphis, Tennessee - WMU of the Shelby Baptist Association WMU - Dates:
December 18 - January 3
Nashville, Tennessee - Nashville Baptist Association - International
Ministry - Dates: December 18 - January 3
States with other locations include: Florida, Georgia, Illinois,
Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma,
Oregon, and Texas.
Fees and Deadlines
*Applications received by November 12 must be accompanied by
the $50.00
"Early Bird" registration fee.
*Applications received after November 12 must be accompanied by the
regular $75.00 registration fee.
**No applications will be accepted after November 30, 1999.
Assignments are made after October 15, 1999. Applications will not be accepted by phone, and no space can be reserved until the application form and registration fee are in FIH office. Don't wait! Some locations, like Florida, fill up early. Send your application as soon as possible.
