Changes to the Registration / Fee Payment Process

Change One.  Students will be held liable for grades and payment of fees at the time they register for classes via the telephone or the Internet.

       *  Effective with the 1999 Fall Semester, as students are registering for classes either via RSVP or the Internet, the system will inform them that they are accepting responsibility for both grades and payment of fees.

        *  If a student does not electronically accept this responsibility, he or she will not be allowed to obtain a class schedule.

        *  For those departments who register students from a terminal in their office, it will be their responsibility to inform the student of this change in policy.  If the student does not agree to accept liability for grades and payment of fees, depts should not register the student.

        *  If a student registers for class during the priority registration process, and has not made arrangements to pay fees or withdraw from the University by the end of the arena registration period, the system will automatically mark those students to an "officially" enrolled status.  The student will be assessed a $50 late fee, and all fees and credited financial aid will be posted to the student's Bursar account.  At that point they will be mailed a statement as confirmation of the University's action.

        *  To avoid the $50 late fee:

**  A student who registers during Priority Registration must return the fall tuition bill they receive via mail to the Bursar's Office by the due date printed on the bill.  The bill will be mailed to the student's permanent address during the week of July 19, 1999.

**  A student, who registers after bills are mailed or during arena registration at the Turner Center in August, must receive a receipt from a Bursar teller.

**  Please note that even if a student's fees are completely covered by financial aid, they must complete one of the above steps.

Change Two.  Students who either drop from full time status to part-time status or who withdraw from the University will receive a 100% refund if the change occurs during the first 10 class days of the semester.  There will be no refunds for changes after the 10th class day.

Change Three.  Students who withdraw from the University by the 10th class day of the semester will be charged a cancellation fee of $100 or 5% of the total assessment, whichever is less.

Questions about these changes may be directed to the Accounting Office, the Bursar's Office, or the Financial Aid Office.
