Check the Graduation Date on your I-20
If it says you will complete your studies by December, 1998, but you won't actually finish by then, you need an extension of stay I-20.  Bring the following to Jean in the Office of International Programs to get a new I-20:
    1.  A letter from your department stating the reason you did not finish by December '98 and the date you are expected to finish.
    2. A new financial statement.  Jean is in the office from 1-5, Monday-Friday.  It is very important that you get a new I-20 before the end of December so that you don't lose your legal immigration status.

Information Regarding Insurance and Immigration

* The residence halls will remain open over the Thanksgiving break and there will be no extra charges associated with staying in the residence halls during this time.

*INSURANCE:

1) I've heard from many of you that you've filed claims to the insurance  company and have not yet been reimbursed.  The problem was that the University was very late in paying the insurance company; however, that situation has now been corrected and all claims will be reimbursed in the
next few weeks.

2)  If you have a question about your insurance policy or claims, please call Gerald Holland Insurance directly at 888-393-9500; do not call the claims administrator.

*Taking care of Immigration Business:

Please don't forget that you must have your I-20 or IAP-66 signed for  re-entry into the United States.  The procedure to follow is to come in to the office with your I-20 or IAP-66 and your passport, and complete a request form.  Immigration documents are no longer signed the day they're brought in.  These documents will be returned to you in 3-4 business days.

*Winter Holiday Schedule

The University will be closed beginning December 23, 1998 and will not re-open until January 4, 1999.  Please take care of any business you have with the University prior to December 23, 1998 so as to avoid any problems.
