The Office of Information Technology at the University of Mississippi supports most of the commonly used statistical packages. A short description of these packages and information on how to access them are given below. For more information on these statistical and mathematical packages, please contact Dr. Sam Gordji at 232-5022, e-mail ccsam@olemiss.edu.

SAS ON WILLOW
SAS version 9.1 is available on willow. To run SAS, enter: "sas my.sas", where "my.sas" is the user's input SAS program. The output will be stored in "my.lst". Manuals are available for most of SAS various modules and may be borrowed for a short time. SAS on Willow FAQ
SPSS for Windows
IT administers a 110 user network license for SPSS 15.
PRELIS 2 and LISREL 8
LISREL and PRELIS version 8.30 are available on cedar. PRELIS is a preprocessor for LISREL. It is used to provide a first descriptive look at raw data even when no LISREL analysis is intended or when further analysis will be done by other programs.LISREL 8 is a form of structural equation modeling. LISREL 8 permits the user to submit the model to the computer in two ways--the modern form of linear structure analysis includes an algebraic formulation of the model in addition to the path diagram representation. In the LISREL model, the linear structure relationship and the factor structure are combined into one comprehensive model applicable for observational studies in many fields. The essential statistical assumption of LISREL analysis is that random quantities within the model are distributed in a form belonging to the family of elliptical distribution.
RUNNING LISREL ON WILLOW
- To run LISREL enter: "lisrel85" at the prompt then press enter.
- At this point LISREL is activated, and the following message appears on the screen: "Input File [input]:"
Enter: "ex31a.ls8", where "ex31a.ls8"; is the user’s input, then press enter. - The following message appears on the screen requesting a name for the output:
"File [output]:" User may enter: "ex31a.out", or any other name for the output. - System returns a prompt when the job is finished and the output is created and called "ex31a.out" .
- The lisrel85 executlable is located at /usr/local/bin/lisrel85
- To obtain more information on LISREL enter: "man lisrel" Manuals for LISREL are available and may be checked out for a short time.
LIMDEP on Willow
LIMDEP 7 is available on willow for econometric analysis.MATLAB on SWEETGUM
Matlab is available on sweetgum for matrix and vector calculations. More about Matlab at UM/MCSRCopies of SAS/PC are available for a small fee.
Other math/stat packages available at UM but not discussed here include IMSL, ABAQUS ,and LS-DYNA. For a list of all MCSR-supported software applications/installations, click here.
