It's not hard to find someone on television, the internet or even in print that is telling you that printed media is dying a painful death. We don't believe that here at the Ole Miss j-department. We will agree that print journalism is changing just like everything, but the one thing it is not doing is dying.
The Ole Miss j-department's M family of publications has blossomed over the past three years and now includes four outlets for student work. M, the j-department magazine is printed twice a year and is fully student written and designed. Each issue has a main topic that is explored in detail. M''s first two issues both won national recognition for their content and design.
Mzine is the j-department's online news magazine. In its beginning Mzine saw itself as a print product but was soon moved online as money for printing dried up by the need for quality content remained. Check out the Mzine tab at the top of the screen for the complete website.
M, the j-department newsletter is the source for alumni, faculty and staff to get their fingers on the pulse of what is going on in Farley Hall and around the j-department. From current high school programs to spotlights on faculty achievements, the j-department newsletter lets the department and faculty shine.
mblog is the newest addition to the M family of publications and is the up-to-the-minute platform for informing alumni and advisory board members of what is happening in the j-department. Academia moves at a much slower rate than other areas of life but all progress and advancement will be shared with anyone wanting to click on the mblog tab at the top of the screen.
As students present new ideas and new needs are exposed, the j-department will expand its offerings to give students every opportunity they need to achieve inside and outside of the classroom.
