Q: What tips do you have to combat too much standing water?

A: Remember to turn off irrigation systems when there is a lot of rain.

Also, make sure your yard drains gutters are clear of debris. You want the gutter to take the water out of the flower beds and away from the house so the water does not cause puddles or areas of standing water.

Standing water is bad for plants and can also be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Also the foundation of planting is making sure you pick the right plants for the right areas. If you are planting in a high, dry site, be sure to select a plant intended for a high, dry site.
