Law Alumni Chapter Officers Installed for 1999-2000
John A. Crawford ('62) of Jackson has assumed the office of president
of the Law Alumni Chapter of The University of Mississippi Alumni Association,
and H.A. Moore III ('72) of Hattiesburg is the chapter's president-elect.
Both are members of the Lamar Order.
Crawford is an attorney with the law firm Butler, Snow, O'Mara, Stevens
& Cannada, PLLC, where he specializes in environmental law, health care
and transportation. He graduated from The University of Mississippi School
of Law in 1962, after receiving his undergraduate degree at Ole Miss.
The attorney is a past chairman of the Section of Natural Resources,
Energy and Environmental Law of the Mississippi Bar Association. He is
a member of the American Bar Association Section on Natural Resources,
Energy and Environmental Law; the American Bar Association Litigation
Section/Environmental Litigation; the National Lawyers Association/Environmental Section; Lex Mundi/Environmental
Committee; and Southern Law Network/Environmental Law Committee.
A member of the Hinds County Bar Association, Crawford is a Fellow of
the Mississippi Bar Foundation. He belongs to the Mississippi Chapter
of the Air & Waste Management Association, the Environmental Committee
of the Mississippi Forestry Association, the Transportation Lawyers Association,
the Environmental Committee of the Mississippi Manufacturer's Association,
and the Association for Transportation Law, Logistics and Policy. He is
a member of the American Agriculture Lawyers Association and the Christian
Legal Society.
H.A. Moore received both his bachelor's and law degrees at Ole Miss,
in 1970 and 1972, respectively. During his law school career, he attained
membership on the Moot Court Board. An active member of the Phi Alpha
Delta legal fraternity, he served as director of its legal research exchange
and was recipient of the chapter's Outstanding Service Award.
The attorney began practicing law in Hattiesburg in 1972 with the firm
Moore and Jones, becoming a partner in 1975 and managing partner from
1978-97. He presently is engaged as a solo practitioner in Hattiesburg.
Moore is a member and former president of the South Central Mississippi
Bar Association. He belongs to the Mississippi Bar Association, which
he has served as president of the Young Lawyers Division, on the Board
of Commissioners and member of the Ethics Committee. He received the Exceptional
Service Award for the Mississippi Pro Bono Project and was selected as
a Fellow of the Young Lawyers Division.
He received the designation of Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation,
on which he has served as a member of the Board of Trustees. He belongs
to the American Bar Association and is a Fellow of the American College
of Mortgage Attorneys. He is a member of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers
Association and serves on the Attorneys Committee of the Mississippi Bankers
Association. He was a charter member of the South Mississippi Estate Planning
Council. Moore served in the U.S. Armed Forces and was honorably discharged from
the U.S. Army, Field Artillery, with the rank of Captain. |
