Well Data for Producing Oil and Gas Fields in Mississippi

The collection of information regarding oil and gas wells within a particular field can be time consuming and tiresome. The MMRI "Field Data Series" aims to assist the industry by collecting much of this information in one location. The information is gleaned from many sources such as the Mississippi State Oil and Gas Board files, the "red books" published by the Mississippi Geological Society, files housed by the Mississippi Office of Geology, files housed by the Mississippi Mineral Resources Institute and articles from the professional literature. All of these data have been accumulated as a series of folders that can be downloaded from the website. Data collection for additional fields is in progress.

DISCLAIMER:
The MMRI's goal in the "Field Data" series is only to produce compilations of information regarding specific producing fields in Mississippi. As one may imagine, the information can become voluminous. These data, therefore, have not been checked by the MMRI staff for accuracy or reliability. The Mississippi Mineral Resources Institute and the University of Mississippi are not responsible for use of or accuracy these data. The independent verification of these data by the user is encouraged.

Well Log for United Gas Public Service Co., Luce Packing No. 1

The United Gas Public Service Co., Luce Packing No. 1 well was drilled in George County, Mississippi, in 1933. This well log is part of the Neill Oil Company files and in its original form consisted of two sheets of time-worn paper with typed lithologic descriptions and depths. Since the location information seems usable, the well log was retyped and produced here in digital form (as an Excel file). Hopefully, it will be of scientific as well of historic value.

MMRI Oil and Gas Well Log Catalog

The MMRI has a significant number of well logs (mostly down-hole geophysical logs) and is in the process of cataloging these logs.  The catalog is being constructed using the Micosoft Acess data base. By clicking on the icon below you will be able to download our catalog as it is being built.  The catalog will also note other data that may be present in the files such as Oil and Gas Board forms or production data. Presently, there are over two thousand logs listed and further additions will be made on a regular basis. Look for updates periodically. Well logs listed in the MMRI on-line catalog can be obtained for a nominal fee (see our procedures and price list). Contact Charles Swann if you have questions or would like additional information.
