MMRI Student Involvement
The MMRI routinely involves both graduate and undergraduate students in research projects in keeping with its legislated duties. Historically, MMRI has supported students from all of Mississippi's research universities, i.e. The University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, University of Southern Mississippi and Jackson State University . These students have completed their degrees and have entered into both the governmental and industrial sectors of our economy. Students participate in MMRI projects both as part of their academic training and as an important part of on-going research projects. A total of 18 students, for example, became involved in the most recent support project for Mississippi's mining industry. Students may also be supported financially, funds permitting, on projects as research assistants, thereby working side-by-side with the investigator and gaining first-hand knowledge of project investigation, management and completion.
