Japanese at the University of Mississippi:
The Japanese program at the Department of Modern Languages
currently offers a minor in Japanese. The courses are elementary,
intermediate and advanced level Japanese that emphasize both the language
and culture of Japan. Students may complete their language requirement
by studying Japanese. Study-abroad opportunities are available at
universities in Japan.
Why Study Japanese?
Japanese is a beneficial language to learn and is a
marketable skill to have. Japan is the second largest nation in the world
in economic size, and Japan plays important roles in the world in cutting
edge industries such as computers, artificial intelligence, electronics,
robotics, new materials, and so on. Learning Japanese will also expand your
horizon exploring exotic culture and tradition, which may bring you
totally different perceptions.
Student Activities:
Throughout the academic year, the Japanese Tutoring/Club
meets once a week. Join us for games and conversation. Omachi shite masu!
