The Spanish section of the Department of Modern Languages has a faculty
of six with specializations in significant areas of Spanish language,
literature, and culture.
Abundant opportunities exist for students to
work closely with Spanish faculty. The Department also sponsors a weekly
foreign film series and periodic cultural events.

Important information about the Spanish major:
Please note the the 2007-08 Undergraduate Catalogue has incorrect information about the Spanish major. It currently
reads:
"A MAJOR IN SPANISH FOR THE B.A. DEGREE requires 30 semester hours, exclusive of 100-level credits."
This should read "... exclusive of 200-level credits."
Student Computer Requirements for Spanish 100 and 200 level courses:
Spanish courses at the 100 and 200 level are computer-enhanced courses in which students will
employ technology to achieve more one-on-one interaction with their classmates, and their instructor during class
time.
- Computer Requirements for students taking Spanish 101, 102, 111, 121, 201 and 211:
The program "OneKey CourseCompass" will be used to submit on-line homework. Students will need a OneKey Course
Compass access card and headphones.
- Computer Requirements for students taking Spanish 202:
The on-line component for Spanish 202 is available on Blackboard and students are given access when they enroll
in the course.
There will be a “OneKey Course Compass & Blackboard” training session during the regularly scheduled class-time
at the beginning of each semester.
Students are encouraged to use the Language Resource Center located on the lower level of Bondurant Hall.
