Jennifer Robinson

Jennifer Robinson, instructor of music, received her bachelor of music degree in vocal music education from Western Michigan University , her master of music in vocal performance from Florida State University, and has pursued doctoral studies leading to the doctor of musical arts degree at the University of Illinois. Prior to coming to Ole Miss, she taught studio voice at Meredith College, North Carolina, where she also designed and directed the opera workshop program.

Jennifer has performed widely throughout the southeastern United States in opera, oratorio, musical theater, and recital. Her operatic roles include Despina and Fiordiligi in Così Fan Tutte, Marenka in The Bartered Bride, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Pamina in The Magic Flute. Her musical theater credits include A Little Night Music, Follies, Man of La Mancha, and Babes in Toyland. Companies with whom she has appeared include Charlotte Opera, Charlotte Town Players, and Young Artists Opera Theater. Robinson was engaged for two seasons as artist in residence with Opera Carolina.

Active in oratorio, Ms. Robinson has performed as a soloist with the Hilton Head Oratorio Society, the Tar River Orchestra, and the Sun Coast Oratorio Society, and both the North Carolina Bach Festival and the Tallahassee Bach Parley. Her performance of selected songs by Nancy Van de Vate received high praise from the composer, who attended the concert.

In the fall of 2007, Ms. Robinson appeared in recital at the 50th Anniversary Conference of the College Music Society, held in Salt Lake City, and in 2009 for the National Opera Association's National Conference in Washington, D.C. Recent recital performances include duet recitals for the University of Mississippi Faculty Artist Series, the Guest Artist Series of William Carey University, and a joint recital at the University of Utah. In 2009 she appeared as operatic soloist with the Germantown Symphony Orchestra in their season finale concert. Her upcoming performances include a February 2010 solo recital for the University of Mississippi Faculty Artist Series, followed by a concert with the L-O-U Symphony in March.
