John LaTartara
John Latartara is assistant professor of music. He received his B.M., M.M.
and D.M.A. in theoretical studies from New England Conservatory of Music.
He has taught at New England Conservatory of Music, Wheaton College,
Southern New Hampshire University, and for the Handel and Haydn Society, and
is a recipient of the Malcolm S. Morse Memorial Foundation award. Dr.
Latartara’s theoretical research involves the use of computer technology for
the analysis of music and sound, and the philosophical ramifications this
has on musical understanding. He is also the founder and editor
of Sapaan, a
semiannual online music theory journal. As a
composer, he is interested in the aesthetic connections between various
fields such as music, art, literature, philosophy, science, and technology.
