Brian Osborne
Brian Osborne joined the faculty at The University of
Mississippi in fall of 2006. He is active with the Ole Miss
music community, in various capacities such as musical
preparation for the school of theater's recent production of
Stephen Sondheim's Company and the opera theater's fall
scenes program. He is lecturer of art song and opera
literature and assists with Ole Miss Opera theater's musical
direction. He comes most recently from Knoxville,
Tennessee, where he served as music director and coach with
the Knoxville Opera Studio and performed with the Knoxville
Symphony. He has appeared regularly as coach accompanist and
rehearsal pianist on the musical staff of various opera
companies throughout the country, including Opera in the
Ozarks, where he returns each summer, Ash Lawn-Highland
Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Virginia Opera, Augusta Opera,
Regina Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Opera North, and
Brevard Music Center. His contributions to productions have
included a wide range of repertoire, including Susannah, Le
Nozze di Figaro, La Traviata, The Barber of Seville, Tosca,
La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, The Magic Flute, Carmen, Hansel
and Gretel, Sweeney Todd, Little Women, Annie Get Your Gun,
Carousel, Die Fledermaus, and many others. He is active on
the recital stage appearing this season with mezzo-soprano
Lorraine DiSimone, soprano, Alexandra Phillips, bass, Dennis
Bender, and numerous UM voice majors. He will also present
vocal master classes at Shorter College and The University
of Kentucky this year. He has worked with numerous schools
and universities as a staff vocal coach and lecturer,
including Manhattan School of Music, Brenau University,
Simpson College, and Piedmont College. Brian is also an
active vocalist, appearing last fall with the Ole Miss
combined choirs as the bass soloist for the Mozart Requiem.
His alma maters include The University of Georgia, Florida
State University, and The University of Tennessee.
