Note: All tickets are general admission and may be purchased at the Central Ticket Office at 662-915-7411, at http://www.olemiss.edu/depts/tickets/ or at the door. Season subscriptions are available for $60 through September 22, 2005. Individual events are $12 general public, $8 students and children. Presentations and master classes are open without charge. Reserved seating will be available for season ticket holders at all events in Meek Auditorium up to five minutes prior to the recital. Anyone wishing to contribute to the Piano Series may contact Dr. Ian Hominick through the Department of Music at (662) 915-7268. Lauren Schack Clark |
Lauren Schack Clark has concertized extensively as a soloist and collaborative artist throughout the United States and France. In addition to performances at the French Piano Institute in Paris, she has performed with principal players from leading orchestras. Clark's articles have been published in Clavier, and she serves as the director of keyboard activities at Arkansas State University.

Eric Himy“flawless, elegant and brilliant” |
The compelling artistry of Eric Himy has intrigued audiences on five continents. Among his many American performances have been concerts at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. A student of Adele Marcus and Thomas Schumacher, Himy graduated from the Julliard School and has gone on to win numerous competitions and awards, including the gold medal at the 1988 World Piano Competition and the Kosciusko Chopin Prize in Paris.

Brian Holland has rapidly become one of the most lauded performers of ragtime and stride piano in America. After twelve years of classical studies, Holland found ragtime, and audiences have been consistently enthralled by his impressive technique and casual onstage personality. The youngest three-time winner of the World Old-Time Piano Playing Championship, he has performed across the United States from pizza parlors to major concert and festival venues. As one reviewer stated, "You have to hear him to believe it."

Nadejda Vlaeva“she has what the Russians call God-given

A native of Sofia, Bulgaria, Nadejda Vlaeva has blazed a performing career across the United States, Canada, and Europe. She studied with such notable pianists as Lazar Berman, Gyorgy Sandor and Ruth Laredo, and won first prize at the 1989 Liszt Competition in Italy. Vlaeva has recorded new music by composer Dimiter Christov as well as Chopin's works for piano and orchestra. Her second CD, featuring the piano music of Franz Liszt, was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque in 2002. Arnold Steinhardt of the Guarneri String Quartet calls Vlaeva "one of those people of extraordinary ability whom we hope for but rarely see."

Duo d'ArbonneChristopher Thompson, violin;

Christopher Thompson has performed to high critical acclaim in the United States, Europe and the Far East. Critics have described Thompson as "a consummate artist" and a violinist who performs with "a marvelous technique and a splendid spectrum of tone." Richard Seiler has performed extensively as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician throughout the southeastern United States. This performance will feature the world premiere of a composition by Eric Ewazen expecially commissioned by the artists. Both musicians teach on the music faculty at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Over the last decade, Canadian pianist André Laplante has firmly established himself as one of the great romantic virtuosos. He garnered international attention after winning prizes at the Geneva and Sydney International Piano Competitions, then capturing the silver medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Laplante has performed in most of the major concert centers in Europe, North America and the Far East to the highest critical acclaim.
