Music Scholarships

Band. These awards are made on the basis of performing ability and potential for contribution to the band program. It is not necessary to major in music to receive a band scholarship. For more information, write or call David Willson, director of bands, (662) 915-7390.

Choir. These awards are made on the basis of performing ability and potential for contribution to the choral program. It is not necessary to major in music to receive a choral scholarship. For more information call (662) 915-5115 or e-mail choirs@olemiss.edu.

Orchestra. These awards are made to string players on the basis of performing ability and potential for contributing to the orchestra program. It is not necessary to major in music to receive an orchestra scholarship. For more information write or call Ronald F. Vernon, orchestra director, (662) 915-7268.

Piano. These awards are made to music major or minor pianists on the basis of performing ability and potential for contributing to the program of the Department of Music. For more information write or call the piano area coordinator at (662) 915-7029 or (662) 915-7268.

Voice. These awards are made to voice majors or minors on the basis of vocal ability and the potential for contribution to the vocal program. For more information write or call the voice area coordinator at (662) 915-5441 or e-mail clinton@olemiss.edu.

Opera. These awards are made to outstanding singers on the basis of vocal ability and the potential for contribution to the opera program. It is not necessary to major in music to receive an opera scholarship. For more information write or call the opera theatre director at (662) 915-7268.

Jazz. These awards are made on the basis of performance ability and the potential for contribution to the jazz ensemble program. It is not necessary to major in music to receive a jazz scholarship. The Financial Aid Office at the University of Mississippi administers academic scholarships and other forms of financial assistance. A student may hold more than one type of scholarship; an early application for assistance will assure consideration for every type of aid.
