RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Hickey's expertise includes research in the field of physics of porous materials and geophysical methods for shallow site investigation. Broad research interest involves the unique behaviors associated with the interaction of components phases of poroelastic materials. This research has application to: oil and gas exploration and exploitation, groundwater resources and contaminant monitoring, engineering site investigation and seismic hazard, noise absorbing materials, thermoacoustics, and agricultural soil characterization.

Since joining the University of Mississippi faculty, he has been involved in the acoustics of porous materials and the interaction of sound with the ground.
