Non-Destructive Testing with RUS

Our Dynamic Resonance System (DRS) Q9000 system allows us to perform non-destructive testing and evaluation of parts ranging in size from millimeters to centimeters.  RUS is used to compare the spectrum of resonant frequencies of a part to that of a known good part. Differences in parts will show up as the appearance, disappearance or splitting of peaks, or a shift in the spectrum, depending upon the type of defect detected. A single RUS measurement can test a part for cracks, chips, inclusions and dimensional variations without harming the part.

Part Requirements for RUS NDT:

  • Small size and weight
  • Precise dimensions and high homogeneity
  • High symmetry shapes or simple shapes
  • High-Q resonance
