INGERSOLL-RAND COMPRESSOR

The development of a supersonic jet lab requires the delivery of compressed air thereby providing the stagnation pressures required for supersonic nozzle pressure ratios.

This Ingersoll-Rand 1100 hp compressor delivers 5300 SCFM of air (~6.6 lb/s) at 125 psi to the Single Lobe Rig (SLR) located in The University of Mississippi’s National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA). Exhausting to the ambient, this stagnation pressure can provide a Mach 2 jet useful for jet aeroacoustics research.
