Physical Ultrasonics Research and Engineering Groups

The Physical Ultraonics Research and Engineering Groups, formally known as Biomedical Ultrasonics, is composed of three research groups.  Read on for a synopsis of each.
  • Biomedical Acoustics
  • Calibration Facility
  • The Advanced Cavitation Power Technology (ACPT) Program - The Advanced Cavitation Power Technology (ACPT) program is basic research directed toward the production of high-density exothermic energetic output from acoustically-driven cavitation under high pressure. NCPA's team is one of four university teams working with Impulse Devices, Inc., a private research company, in a collaborative effort to provide the Department of Defense (DoD) with innovative, non-polluting technologies for use with prime power applications approaching the mega-watt range and ultimately a 'green' technology available to everyone.
