A Symposium on U.S. Child Nutrition Programs:
Past, Present, and Future

March 20-21, 2006

The Child Nutrition Archives at the National Food Service Management Institute (NFSMI) is pleased to announce its first symposium on Child Nutrition Programs (CNP). The event was held on the Oxford campus of the University of Mississippi, March 20 - 21, 2006. The program featured scholarly presentations concerning the history, implementation, and development of the federally funded U.S. CNP (National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Special Milk, and Child and Adult Care Food Program) and feeding programs that predate the federal programs. In addition, there was a plenary session featuring noted speakers, a luncheon speaker, and a panel discussion with invited participants. Special discussions and exhibits were planned to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the signing of the National School Lunch Act.
