Procurement education is an on-going process of acquiring knowledge and making application.
According to Marlene Gunn, school foodservice purchasing authority, "Procurement is not an exact science,
and training is essential for successful decision-making appropriate for the situation."
Ms. Gunn hosted a 90-minute live and interactive teleconference for the National Food Service Management
Institute on January 21, 2004.
Viewers of Procurement Education and Training will be able to:
- Identify the steps of the procurement process for Child Nutrition Programs
- Describe successful methodologies used in procurement training
- Compare the similarities and differences of training needs for a variety of audiences including child care
- Discuss improvements in a school district that acquired procurement training
- Give examples of available training programs and resources
Guest panelists will discuss their involvement with procurement and the benefits of an effective training program.
Questions for the panel discussion may be submitted in advance or during the program by calling 800-321-3054 or
