Dawn Jeter has over 25 years experience in a variety of business environments. Her interest in journalism began while employed with the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal as marketing assistant and Newspaper in Education coordinator. While employed at North Mississippi's largest daily newspaper, she received advertising and marketing campaign awards from the Mississippi Press Association.
Dawn went on to serve as community services coordinator for Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oxford, where she was responsible for planning the hospital's media relations and community service events. While employed with Baptist, she received two advertising awards from the American Hospital Association for print advertisements and hospital marketing campaigns.
In the late 90's, Dawn served as publications assistant and webmaster for the University of Mississippi's Law Research Institute and the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Legal Program. During this time she did freelance graphic design for various campus programs. Exposure of her work presented her with an opportunity for a position with Oxford Publishing Company, where she was lead graphic designer and manager of pre-press operations for a major beverage retailer magazine. She also travelled and worked national trade shows hosted by the restaurant and hospitality industries.
Prior to joining the Overby Center at it's initial opening in October 2007, Dawn worked seven years as operations manager for the National Center for Justice and the Rule of Law, a federal grant program at the University of Mississippi. She was also webmaster for the University of Mississippi School of Law.
Dawn has two children: Alana Rose, age 20, and Alex age 17. She is also a musician, singer and journalism major.
