Regional Awards
The students presenting research papers in the form of an oral presentation
at the Mississippi JSHS, as determined by a committee of judges, will earn
the followings scholarships:
- A total $4,500 in undergraduate, tuition scholarships, awarded at
$2000 (1st place), $1500 (2nd place), and $1000 (3rd place) to each of
three regional symposium finalists (scholarship payable upon matriculation
and upon meeting the JSHS scholarship conditions).
- University of Mississippi Scholarships, totaling nearly $10,000 (various
amounts)
- First and second place regional finalists compete equally for scholarships
at the national level.
In addition, an expense-paid trip (excluding a $100.00 registration fee)
to the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium will be awarded
to the top five MS-JSHS presenters. - A $500 Faculty Award will be presented to honor the teacher that sponsors the 1st place finalist at the Mississippi JSHS.
National Awards
The 2009 47th National Junior
Science and Humanities Symposium will be held in April 29-May 3 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A total of 18 students from around the US will be awarded
scholarships at the National JSHS:
6 first-place awards: $16,000 scholarships
6 second-place awards: $6,000 scholarships
6 third-place awards: $2,000 scholarships
The National brings together over 400 participants in a program of educational
and scientific exchange. An invitation to present their original
research investigation at the National JSHS, awarded to the 1st and 2nd
place finalists at each regional symposium.
