Financial Aid for Graduate StudentsMaster's and Doctoral students in Political Science are eligible for numerous forms of financial assistance, including graduate assistantships (which require assisting faculty with teaching or research), minority fellowships, honors fellowships, and tuition waivers. As of the 2007-2008 academic year, the minimum graduate assistantship is $5,000 per semester for Ph.D. and M.A. students. Other opportunities exist to increase these amounts, such as summer teaching and scholarships offered by the university. Graduate students receiving assistantships through the department or the Social Science Research Lab automatically receive a full tution waiver (including a full waiver of out-of-state tuition). Students also receive funding for travel to, and participation in, a limited number of academic conferences during the academic year. Research Resources and Facilities
