David A. Swanson has authored or co-authored around 50  refereed journal articles dealing with demography and related topics. With Stan  Smith and Jeff Tayman, he wrote State and Local Population Projections: Methodology and Analysis ( 2001) and with Jay Siegel, edited The Methods and Materials of Demography 2nd  Edition ( 2004). He is the Secretary-treasurer of the Southern Demographic Association and serves as the Editor of its official journal, Population Research and Policy Review.
