After 25 years, Dr. Jeff Tayman retired as the Department Director of Technical Services from the San Diego Association of Governments in 2007. He is a specialist in demographic, economic, and statistical methods, the design and implementation of complex, large scale transportation, socioeconomic, and land use models, and the development of complex, integrated data systems for small geographic areas using innovative GIS and relational database technology. He has extensive experience working with elected officials and other stakeholders on policy matters affected by demographic and economic changes. He has made over 80 presentations at professional conferences and has published 22 articles in referred journals and his book (co-authored with Stan Smith and Dave Swanson) State and Local Population Projections: Methodology and Analysis is a standard in the field. He has severed on numerous federal and State of California committees and is a reviewer for academic journals including Demography and Population and Research and Policy Review. He currently has a part time appointment in the Economics Department at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Tayman holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Florida State University and his undergraduate degree in anthropology was earned at Florida Atlantic University.
