The Department of Psychology is housed in George Peabody Building. Classrooms,
research laboratories, office space, and other facilities occupy 12,500 square
feet of floor space.
Several research laboratories and a multipurpose classroom are located on
the ground floor of Peabody.
- The Social Psychology Laboratory is
equipped with psychophysiological and video equipment to carry out research
projects examining verbal and facial expression of emotion and self-regulation
of emotion.
- The Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory is
equipped with a variety of apparatuses to study the behavioral pharmacology
of a number of psychotropic (antinociceptive and anxiolytic) drugs using animal
models.
- The
Psychological Assessment Clinic is equipped to provide diagnostic services
to the University and surrounding communities.
- The Cognitive Psychology Laboratories house a variety of equipment
that is used to investigate human visual processes.
- The multipurpose classroom (110 Peabody) is equipped with computers
for statistical analysis of student-generated data and is used for the human
and animal laboratory courses (Psy 211/212/213/214).
- Two vivariums are equipped to house laboratory rats and chicks.
The department office, seminar rooms, classrooms, and research facilities are
located on the second floor of Peabody.
Faculty offices, graduate student offices, and student-faculty
lounge are located on the third floor.
- The
Psychological Services Clinic includes four multipurpose rooms for evaluation,
consultation, and therapy. Two observation rooms, which are virtually soundproof,
are equipped with one-way vision mirrors and sound transmission equipment.
Furthermore, testing and evaluation instruments for the clinical program include
equipment for all the major and many of the minor individual and group procedures.
Approximately 130 different tests appropriate for a full range of chronological
age-levels and functions are available.
