Human Research Protection Program ~ Research Integrity and Compliance

All human research conducted at, by, or under the auspices of this institution, whether funded or not and whether conducted by the administrators, faculty, staff, or students, must be reviewed and approved before the research begins.

Everyone who will have contact with human research subjects or human subject research data must receive online education in the protection of human subjects.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at The University of Mississippi is appointed by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs and is commissioned to review all proposals for research which involve human subjects, according to the University's Federalwide Assurance (FWA00008602) with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The task of the IRB is to ensure that the research is in compliance with ethical standards, university policy, and state and federal regulations.
