New Director of Women's Affairs:

Lisa Sloan, a Ph.D. candidate in English, is the new Director of Women's Affairs on the Graduate Student Council for 2007-2008. Many thanks to Danielle Sellers, who inaugurated this position last year, for setting an excellent foundation for the group.

This newly-formed and developing group
exists as a support and discussion hub for
graduate women. The group is self-led and
focuses on supporting graduate women
socially, academically, and personally. The
group has been conceptualized as a forum
to discuss, offer, and seek support on some
of the following issues: research, especially
research on gender issues, balancing
academics and family, sexual harassment
and violence, female isolation in male-
dominated departments, communication and interaction styles, racial
and cultural issues, and other issues important to members. More
important than education, advocacy, or anything else the group can
offer, is the support of other graduate women.

Please bring your student ID and a $5.00 deposit.
