Gabe Wrobel Appears on Discovery Channel

This past summer, a Discovery Channel crew filmed a documentary about Gabriel Wrobel's research at the Midnight Terror Cave in Belize.  The show, which aired in February of 2008, is one episode in a new series called “Ancient Bones” and will feature on-camera commentary by Dr. Wrobel about his archeological work on the human remains found inside the cave.

Department Fiesta Fall 2007

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology started the new semester with a Department Party hosted by Gabe Wrobel. Outgoing Department Chair, David Swanson, was presented with the prestigious “Boz” award in honor of his outstanding achievements as chair.  We welcomed new graduate students into both programs and enjoyed hamburgers cooked by Gabe and side dishes brought by everyone in the department.  A highlight of the party was the semi-successful removal of a human bot-fly larvae from Gabe’s shoulder.  He acquired the bot-fly during his summer fieldwork in Belize and partygoers shrieked and winced as it was skillfully removed by anthropology graduate students familiar with the procedure.
