With the Department of Social Work coordinating the drive, local school children raised $7,000 in a one week penny drive. This was combined with other charitable donations to provision a truck (pictured below) with $10,000 worth of care boxes. Lafayette, Panola, Yalobusha and Calhoun counties each received 200 care boxes for needy families. At participating fundraising schools, the children got pizza parties, and the administrations received a $300 emergency fund.
