Introduction
Since
coming to Mississippi in 1999, I’ve worked on several
different photographic projects.
Some involve people interacting in public places.
Others explore some of the more personal aspects of
Mississippians’ lives: relationships with friends, family
activities, and the central importance of religion for many of
the state’s residents.
The pictures on this site, however, are from a
different kind of project – a series of “cultural
landscape” photographs that presents selected scenes from
the environment of the American South as created by the people
who live there.
