9. Bob Wheeler

Baldwyn, MS

Bob Wheeler of Baldwyn has been involved in the country and bluegrass music scene of northeastern Mississippi for over 50 years. He has worked as a show emcee, comedian (appearing in costume as the character “Cousin Elmer Doogood”), band manager, and show promoter. For over twenty years Wheeler and his wife Mary ran The Campbell Music Hall, a live music show held in a converted barn near their home. They also sponsored a successful bluegrass festival held near Houston, Mississippi for many years.

Wheeler has also been active record collector for many years and has amassed a large personal collection. In addition to historic 78s and LPs, he has recordings of many of the festivals and shows that he has promoted.
