Warren Journal Calls for Papers
The Center for Robert Penn Warren Studies at Western Kentucky University has
scheduled the first issue of the Robert Penn Warren Journal for April 1996, to
coincide with the 50th anniversary of the publication of Warren's All the King's
Men. Papers focusing on Warren s poetry, prose, or literary criticism, or on
areas of his public life (e.g., as teacher, as friend and mentor, as the nation s
first Poet Laureate, as a participant in the New Criticism movement), are invited
to be considered for inclusion in the premier issue. Papers submitted should not
be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts are to be prepared
in the MLA style. Submissions, accompanied by an SASE, will be accepted until
September 1, 1995. Please submit one double-spaced manuscript plus one copy to

Marching Bands: Call for Information
For a cultural history of high school marching bands, to be published by the
University Press of Mississippi, Noel Polk requests memoirs, anecdotes, and data
of any sort on the subject. He is interested in information on how, when, and why
the marching band became institutionalized in the education system and in
learning about bands various relationships with the community and with sports
