Eudora Welty Award Winners Announced

Winners of the 1995 Eudora Welty Awards for Creative Writing were announced on opening day of the University's 22nd Faulkner and Yoknapatawpha Conference, July 30. The awards are presented annually to outstanding high school writers.

The 1995 awards went to first-place winner Natalie Tropp of Oxford for her short story "Summer" and to second-place winner Casey Crosthwait of Jackson for the story "Where the Moon Was." The prizes include cash awards of $500 for first place and $250 for second place. Tropp attends Oxford High School and Crosthwait attends Jackson Academy.

The awards were endowed by Frances Patterson of Tupelo, Mississippi, who is a member of the Center's State Advisory Committee.
