Faulkner Conference Wins 2nd Cultural Olympiad Award

The Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games Cultural Olympiad has announced that the Center has won a 1995 Regional Designation Award in the Humanities for the 22nd annual Faulkner and Yoknapatawpha Conference, "Faulkner in Cultural Context." This is the second Cultural Olympiad honor bestowed upon the conference, which was a recipient of the 1994 Regional Designation Award in the Arts. The Oxford Conference for the Book was also selected for the arts award.

Developed with the Georgia Humanities Council in cooperation with the Southern States Humanities Councils, the Regional Designation Awards in the Humanities are designed to recognize and celebrate excellence and innovation in humanities programming in the South. The 21 award-winning programs, which take place during the period of July 1, 1995, and August 31, 1996, represent a wide thematic range and include humanities institutions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Virginia.

The Cultural Olympiad is a multiyear festival of the arts, culture, and entertainment that culminates in the 1996 Olympic Arts Festival. For more information about the Cultural Olympiad or the 1996 Olympic Arts Festival, call 404-224-1835.
