Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation Awarded ETV Grant

Mississippi Educational Television Star Schools Interactive Video Network has awarded the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation an $80,000 technology grant. The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation is the governing organization for the Southern Cultural Heritage Complex of Vicksburg, an artistic, cultural, and educational programming center for which the Center serves in an advisory capacity.

The ETV grant will allow the Complex to become part of the Star Schools Network, an arts and cultural enrichment program for K-12 schools in Mississippi. It will also enable the Foundation to establish a state-of-the-art electronic classroom at the Complex, fulfilling a priority of the Complex's master plan. This classroom will establish a technology link between the Center and the Complex for event and program sharing. Plans are currently being made to broadcast some of the Center's spring Brown Bag Lectures to the Complex in Vicksburg. Overall the acquisition of the ETV grant opens up some exciting possibilities for the Southern Cultural Heritage Complex to develop enriching educational opportunities that showcase Mississippi's diverse culture. For more information about the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation or the ETV grant, contact Dinah Lazor, executive director of the Complex, at 601-631-2997 or email Linda Banchetti, Southern Cultural Heritage Complex technology director at schf@magnolia.net.
